The Ricote valley is a unique spot in the Region of Murcia.
The Segura river is the central focus of this route which leaves from Cieza and crosses the Angosto valley, following millennia-old irrigation canals and passing through peaceful villages.
Our route begins on the iron bridge in Cieza, on the banks of the Segura river, heading towards the fertile fields. Leaving to our right the remains of Siyasá and the hillsides of Sierra de la Atalaya, we access the route of the waterwheels of Abarán, a delightful village perched on the river bends. An essential stop in the Park of the Waterwheel will allow you to contemplate the largest wheel in Europe.
The following section towards Blanca is on a road located on a terrace above the fields and on some interesting remains such as the mediaeval silo of La Cobertera.

The Azud de Ójos reservoir is a large body of water reflecting the surrounding mountings which frame another narrower section of the route. Once we have passed the spectacular Solvente ravine, we enter the fields of Ójos Ulea: small, charming villages full of culture.
From there, the valley widens and the road becomes flatter. By following the banks of the river Segura, we reach Archena, famous for its spas and thermal waters, which have been used since Roman times.
