Pink 'n Yellow - The Wedding Piece (No Voice Over), 2010

Alongside such events as bombings and a General Strike, a wedding is shown as an act of war and a means for liberation in the movie The Battle of Algiers (1966). The film has its base in true events. Ralf Homann is investigating these traces, asking Murcian cultural producers how they can create a wedding and how they can foster the human right to marry in the current context of the EU border regime.

1962, Munich. Lives and works in Berlin. Ralf Homann's work deals with spatial concepts and with the broader media, while also reflecting upon their interdependency. He is interested in activating the public space by means of performance-based practices. In his works, which are constantly negotiating the boundaries of art and politics, he investigates the different facets of knowledge, its hidden narrative or its invisible design to illustrate new perspectives of reality and how it might be represented. Ralf Homann works mostly within collaborative teams in a context of activism, as these constitute the basis of his understanding of the public realm. In several works he also explores issues of modern-day mobility and migration. While operating in various media forms, an important series of his works focuses on radio. He also applies sound or transmissions to his sculptures, thereby simultaneously encompassing physical and digital spaces. His contention is that radio is "a dancing medium".
