Alhama lies in the Valley of the river Guadalentín at the foot of the Espuña and La Muela ranges. To the Romans and Moors this town meant the thermal springs flowing off the mountain. This is, in fact, what gives the town its name, Al-hama, meaning hot springs in Arabic. There are also the ruins of the older Roman baths that demonstrate the great age of the utilization of the springs in the area. Walking and cycling enthusiasts will find the gateway to Sierra Espuña in Alhama. In addition to hillwalking and climbing, the park offers other points of interest such as the 16th- and 17th -century snow cellars.
The Tourist Office is located in the city centre.
Opening times:
From 1st July to 15th September:Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm and
Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm.
From 16th September to 30th June:Monday to Friday from 9am to 2 pm and 5pm to 8
pm. Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm.

Meeting point: Museo Arqueológico Los Baños (C/ Sánchez Vidal, 5). Payment will be done on site on the day of the visit, preferably by credit/debit card.
