SANTA ANA ACASAMATADA BATTERY
Information

This fortification is located on the coastline, on the ledge called Santa Ana.

It was originally a fort at the beginning of 18th century, but it was later rebuilt, according to the O'Donnell's Plan, shaped as a castle, with a large number of loopholes for rifle fire.

Nowadays, it conserves most of its structure, walls, enclosures, presenting an external aspect that resembles a castle, hence its name of Santa Ana Castle. The casemates are built with concrete, buried with their vaults artillery-proof, and their surface coated with earth.

It was declared Heritage of Cultural Interest, in accordance with current second additional provision of 16/1985 of Spanish Historical Heritage Act.

Visible from the route of the Blue Trail in the Port of Cartagena.
