The Region of Murcia is a meeting point for Christianity as is testified by the fact that His Holiness Pope John Paul II bestowed on Caravaca de la Cruz the celebration of the Jubilee Year for 2003, making it the fifth Holy City in the world (along with Santiago de Compostela, Santo Toribio de Liebana, Rome, and Jerusalem) which will be able to celebrate the Jubilee in perpetuum.
