BEACHES TO SPEND THE DAY ON

It is hot and you suddenly decide to get away to the beach to have a dip and spend the day there. But you haven't prepared anything. No problem: you just need to go to any of the numerous beaches in the Costa Cálida (meaning `warm coast'), where there are a range of facilities available, so that you don't miss anything during your day at the beach. 'Chiringuitos', shops, car parks and restaurants are only a stone's throw away. Here is just a selection of some of them. You will find some more in our Beach Guide

ÁGUILAS

Playa de Calabardina - Calabardina Beach

7km away from Águilas, and with excellent access. There are several residential areas now where the fishermen's hamlet was for centuries, around the Almadraba, which no longer exists. The Cabo de Cope 'Cope Cape' protects it to the east like a stunning, vigilant guardian, so that it is a splendid anchorage for boats. Facing south, with fine sands that get smoothly in the sea, a sandy seabed and clean, crystal clear waters. The old jetty, which is now used by small boats and diving clubs, is a witness of the past, when the Almadraba catches -frigate mackerel, tuna, albacore- used to be taken there.
