The most beautiful part of the Region, since it passes through one of the most scenic places in Murcia, the Protected Natural Park of El Cañón de Almadenes, where our interpretive guides will showcase its history and the best preserved riparian forest, including a visit to Cueva de los Monigotes and its UNESCO World Heritage Cave Art, and a must-see visit to Cueva de las Nutrias.
Approximately three hours' duration (the whole morning or afternoon) and adapted for all types of people of all ages (accessible tourism).
INCLUDES: Required material, qualified guides, insurance, a theoretical/practical talk, visit to Cueva de los Monigotes and Cueva de las Nutrias, workshop/demonstration on cave art and photo report.
During the descent, we'll discover:The Region's best conserved stretch of the Segura River with more than 150 recognised species of plants and wildlife between walls more than 100 metres high. Here our guides will explain the riparian forest and the biodiversity of this Protected National Space in detail.
Cueva de los Monigotes and Abrigos del Pozo:Its cave art is the most significant aspect of this archaeological site, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. The red schematic paintings are distributed in human schematisations, representations of animals and other signs which are difficult to interpret. Here the guides will explain their meaning and how they were painted 8000 years ago in a small workshop on Experimental Archaeology.
Later, onboard the boat, we'll enter Cueva de las Nutrias, a cave inhabited by these likeable animals of its name: otters. Then we'll go through the area of the Maestra and the mouth of the Embalse Alfonso XIII reservoir. This adventure will end in the Presa de la Mulata dam.
